Please tell. I had the same problem, if you place a plate or a furniture, not right on the stump but above it wont grow back, at least it fixed the problem for me but I dont think there are any setting to.
May 20, No, tree trunks are built statically into the map. Think of it like a building on the map. What about if you edit the map you are playing in, can you remove it there?
Well, yes, in the map editor you can remove trees. But seriously, it would be nice to be able to remove stumps so that trees can't grow back. Clearing out a perimeter of trees around your base will help with defense. And, since we're clearing out trees, it would be nice to be able to put them elsewhere, too.

Make them drop a pinecone or a seedling, and we can plant groves for farming lumber.
